November and December Meetings

Filed under: Uncategorized — Joann @ 4:47 pm

Our November meeting was a presentation on Rain Gardens given by Maryellen Noonan. Rain Gardens help preserve our environment and manage storm water runoff thereby keeping our streams and rivers clean. It was a very interesting presentation.

Our December meeting had a Holiday theme and Eileen Donahue instructed us how she makes her beautiful garden ornaments. She makes glass totems, Tea cup bird feeders and other beautiful garden decoration out of items she finds at yard sales and flea markets. She also gave everyone directions for making Rain barrels which is another way to help reduce erosion from storm water runoff and increase water quality.

Members brought their donations for the Red Cross Homeless Shelter and members all received a gorgeous Poinsettia as a gift from the Garden Club. Our refreshments were wonderful as usual and we had a lovely time and finished the year on a happy note. There will be no January meeting. Our next meeting will be held on February 6, 2007 and the topic will be Orchids!
